Graduation Requirements

Graduation Participation

  • You must have completed, or if currently enrolled in, be passing all required classes by the last day of classes, (June 16), in order to participate in Notre Dame’s Graduation Ceremony.
  • Watch for Grad Lists to be posted during Semester 2 outside the office.
  • If unexcused absences exceed 10%, students may not be permitted to participate in graduation activities

Diploma Requirements

To earn an Alberta High School Diploma AND participate in the Notre Dame Graduation Ceremonies, a student must: 

  • Earn a minimum of 100 credits
  • Complete and meet the standards for the following:
    • Religious Education 15, 25, 35 or Religions of the World 30
    • English Language Arts at the 30 level
    • Social Studies at the 30 level
    • Mathematics at the 20 level
    • One Science at the 20 level
    • Physical Education 10 (minimum 3 credits)
    • Career and Life Management (CALM, 3 credits)
    • 10 credits from Career and Technology Studies (CTS), or Fine Arts, or Second Language, or Physical Education (in addition to PE 10), or locally developed authorized courses in CTS, Fine Arts or Second Languages
    • 10 credits in any 30 level courses in addition to English 30-1 or 30-2, and Social Studies 30-1 or 30-2

Certificate of High School Achievement Requirements

To earn an Alberta High School Certificate of Achievement AND participate in the Notre Dame Graduation Ceremonies, a student must: 

  • Earn a minimum of 80 credits
  • Complete and meet the standard in TWO of the following:
    • Religious Education 15, 25, 35 or Religions of the World 30
  • Complete and meet the standard in the following:
    • English Language Arts 20-2 or 30-4
    • Social Studies 10-2 or 20-4
    • Mathematics 10-3 or 20-4
    • Science 14 or 20-4
    • Physical Education (3 credits)
    • Career and Life Management (3 credits)
    • 5 credits in: 
      • 30 level Knowledge and Employability occupational course, or
      • 30 level Career and Technology (CTS) course, or
      • 30 level locally developed course with occupational focus
    • and 5 credits in:
      • 30 level Knowledge and Employability Workplace Practicum course, or
      • 30 level Work Experience course, or 
      • 30 level Green certificate course, or 30 level Special Projects 30 

OR 

5 credits in 30 level Registered Apprenticeship Program (RAP) course

 

*Requirements into post secondary institutions and some workplaces may require additional and or specific courses.
